ESTIMATOR for Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas), an expanding Wind Energy developer and contractor based in Colorado. Office location is in Colorado.
This position provides support to the geographically diverse construction and business development activities undertaken by RES-Americas. Consequently, this position will be located in RES Americas' headquarters office. RES-Americas is contemplating that the office will be located in the Denver, Colorado area. Persons responding to this job opportunity should be willing to live in the Denver area.
Purpose:
This key member of the Team will be responsible for providing accurate and competitive estimates for construction cost and schedule in support of the Company’s development and construction business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Using standardized tools and processes, prepare accurate and competitive estimates of project cost and schedule.
2) Develop documentation of cost and schedule in support of the bidding process.
3) Define scope of work within a proposal.
4) Gather details and maintain current market data necessary to accurately estimate construction, material, and soft costs associated with project construction.
5) Receive requests for quotes from in-house developers and from third party construction bids.
6) Review quote requirements, work with design team to define engineering requirements, estimate quantities and obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
7) Summarize into proposal form and provide complete project estimate spreadsheets.
8) Familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements.
9) Possess familiarity with standard construction industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
10) Civil and/or Electrical construction experience is a plus.
11) Experience working with subcontractors to define scope of work.
12) Familiar with concepts surrounding “value engineering.”
13) Show ability to drive innovation of new processes while supporting corporate standards for quality.
14) Be able to work well as part of a small team.
15) Follow standard processes and best practices and continually seek to improve the proposal process.
16) Possess the ability to recognize and recommend alternative designs/scope definitions which support consistency, standardization, and cost competitiveness.
17) Represents the company to meet contractual requirements.
18) Ensures Quality and Environmental procedures are maintained.
19) Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.
20) Employees must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess an appropriate valid driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record.
21) Responsible to ensure SAFETY requirements must be met.
22) Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.
23) Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.
24) Regular attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
25) Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
1) Minimum 10 + yrs of proven utility or industrial experience that includes a proven track record in civil and/or electrical construction estimating.
2) Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.
3) ABILITY TO TRAVEL
4) Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook, and AutoCAD.
5) Good communication skills with the ability to clearly describe the advantages and disadvantages of various designs.
6) Self-motivated and be able to complete all tasks with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION
BS Engineering degree in construction related areas such as Civil, Structural, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
