POSITION SUMMARY
TITLE:
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
REPORTS TO:
The CEO will report to the Oregon Association’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CEO is responsible for the delivery of all programs, products and services and the effective overall day-to-day operation of Association. The CEO will manage a staff of 14-16 employees with an annual operating budget of approximately $2 million and over 14,000 members in 31 local boards/associations.
In addition, the CEO will:
• Work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee to implement the Association’s strategic plan,
• Maintain positive relations and effective communications with the elected leadership, committees and volunteers,
• Maintain a strong relationship with NAR, local associations and brokerage firms and build trust levels among all,
• Maintain a strong working relationship with the Oregon Real Estate Agency and other government agencies, the Legislature and other elected officials,
• Plan and organize the day-to-day operations of the Association and be responsible for all personnel,
• Understand and appreciate members’ business challenges and propose programs to serve their changing needs,
• Develop specific programs, budgets and policies for consideration and approval and ensure proper implementation,
• Create a culture of teamwork, high morale, accountability, creativity and initiative among the staff,
• Work with volunteers and staff to develop the annual budget for approval and implement measurement guidelines to track performance. Assure that all assets – financial and intellectual - are safeguarded,
• Hire, develop, organize, train, hold accountable and, if required, terminate staff to provide the best services and programs for members,
• Support the Board of Directors and Executive Committee by providing advisory assistance as well as organizational and technical support,
• Plan, organize and attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and be responsible for the delivery of reports to both,
• Be willing and able to travel extensively on behalf of the Association,
• Assist in the development and promotion of members and staff to leadership positions at the state and national organization levels as well as in community/governmental positions

• Entrepreneurial and innovative; can recognized trends and organize responses,
• An executive of stature, respected in their profession, able to well represent the Association to various constituencies,
• A strong and effective communicator. Articulate, outstanding speaking and writing skills,
• Has an understanding of the real estate industry,
• Able to gracefully navigate the dynamics of working in a volunteer association
and is proactive in providing direction to leadership,
• Effective project manager, able to establish priorities and simultaneously move multiple issues and programs forward,
• Provide strong operating leadership and a workplace environment that motivates staff to be responsive and to provide outstanding programs, products and services that meet the needs of the membership,
• Able to represent Association membership and their interests,
• Proven track record of building an organization’s reputation, staff and revenues,
• A team builder and facilitator, consensus manager, encourages collaboration and professional/personal growth among staff, members, and allied groups, a solid diplomat and negotiator.
