CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER.
Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is seeking a CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER.
GLFHC, one of more than 1500 community health centers in the United States, strives to improve and maintain the health of individuals and families in the Merrimack Valley by providing a network of high quality, comprehensive health care services and by training health care professionals who can respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population. They aspire to provide the highest quality patient experience and innovative solutions to improve community health. As a financially stable, operationally sound organization, GLFHC is well positioned to fulfill its mission.
GLFHC features a well equipped multi-site ambulatory clinical and teaching environment supported by an electronic health record. They maintain on site mammography and pharmacy facilities and operate four neighborhood clinics, two school-based health centers, and the only federally funded Health Care for the Homeless program in the Merrimack Valley. GLFHC physicians provide inpatient medical, obstetric and critical care to patients at nearby Lawrence General Hospital, a 185 bed full service hospital with a Level III Trauma Center. The Center’s services extend to nursing, home care, and hospice settings, as well as to homeless individuals in the community.
The Center is also the home to the nation’s first accredited community health center-sponsored Family Medicine residency training program which has been ACGME accredited since 1993. This innovative training program attracts exceptional physicians who are committed to caring for underserved populations. It serves as a CDC sponsored research site.
GLFHC is staffed by 520 employees including a provider staff of 70 full and part time physicians, 11 nurse practitioners, 26 medical residents, and 3 fellows. While these are predominantly Family Medicine practitioners, multiple other specialty and focus areas are also represented including: general and high risk obstetrics, alternative and integrative medicine, and HIV management. Nearly 65% of GLFHC employees are bilingual/bicultural Latinos from the local area. The organization reflects a strong sense of the community it serves.
The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced, clinically skilled, Board Certified Family Medicine Physician with advanced training in public health, community or public health, and/or management and well versed in graduate medical education matters. While GLFHC strongly prefers a Family Medicine physician, consideration will be given to other highly qualified primary care physicians with a strong commitment to a Family Medicine centric clinical and training model. A track record of demonstrated accomplishment in a community based, culturally diverse, mission driven health care delivery setting is essential. The candidate should be mission driven while demonstrating the analytic and strategic skills required to translate mission into sound operations. The CMO should be an inspirational and creative leader who is committed to excellence, possesses strong verbal and written communication skills, and has high regard for physicians, nurses, and support staff. He/she should be fair-minded, value diversity of opinion and approach, and demonstrate skills that successfully achieve common ground.
The Massachusetts city of Lawrence is located in Essex County on the Merrimack River. It offers a variety of recreational, historical and cultural attractions. The area features proximity to the Atlantic beaches and the White Mountains of New Hampshire and is located only thirty minutes away from metropolitan Boston.
