Chief Nursing Officer, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, TX

 

Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology programs at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. A recent facility expansion increased capacity to 240 beds. The Women’s Center operates an additional 68 beds. The facility is one of 11 hospitals in the Memorial Hermann system, which serves the greater Houston area. Patients receive specialized children’s healthcare or high-risk pregnancy services at Memorial Hermann hospitals in suburban locations as well more complex care at the teaching hospital, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, in the Texas Medical Center. The hospital is experiencing dramatic growth.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, the Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the effective management of Nursing and Patient Care services for the Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services. Responsibilities include direction and decision-making, financial performance, compliance with regulatory agencies, patient satisfaction, productivity and the promotion of the Partners-In-Caring culture, while ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, this position is responsible for promoting positive relations among the medical staff and hospital personnel, and assumes responsibility for hospital administration, along with other Executives, in the absence of the CEO. Also participates in system-wide initiatives.

 

Requirements:

·         At least 5 years of senior level healthcare management experience.

·         Previous leadership experience within a children’s hospital.

·         Comfortable working in a highly matrixed organization. 

·         Ability to maintain successful partnership relationships with physicians and medical staff.

·         Successful candidate will be both a strategist as well as an operator.

·         Capable of building the infrastructure needed on the campus for future success.  

·         Ability and desire to serve as a mentor for clinical staff; must be a competent teacher and role model.

·         Must truly enjoy spending time with staff and families; a leader that participates in rounding to ensure the team is providing the best clinical care and service to the patients.

·         BSN required, along with Master’s Degree in Nursing or relevant field, such as Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, etc.

·         Licensed/eligible as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
