Service Brands International, an Ann Arbor based franchising company, is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The CTO is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of Service Brands International, it’s home office operations and its franchising systems. The CTO is a member of and works closely with the Executive Management team to grow the company through the use of technological resources. The CTO will also direct all of the IT team members to attain the strategic goals established in SBI’s strategic plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes SBI’s technical vision with input from the exective management team and existing IT staff and leads all aspects of its technical development and implementation.
- Directs SBI’s technical strategic direction, development and future growth. Ensures that these objectives are aligned with SBI’s brand and overall objectives and strategies.
- Works in a consultative role with other Executive Team members and other function heads to improve their efficiency and effectiveness of each brand and Service Brands overall.
- Oversees both the Corporate Technology and Brand Support divisions of IT.
- Functions as a contributing IT team member that performs the technical work when necessary in addition to managerial responsibilities.
- Defines metrics based on overall business objectives that are measured and then updated and analyzed in monthly cockpit charts.
- Oversees the development of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
- Reviews and approves major contracts for services and equipment.
- Prepares, administers and controls the information technology expense budget to contribute to a cost effective operation.
- Directs and prioritizes the work load of the IT team.
- Represents the IT department to the franchise system. Coordinates and leads technology related events and committee meetings. Attends national conventions and regional meetings if required.
- Performs salary administration, conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by the President and COO of SBI.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The individual must have demonstrated, successful experience in:
- Managing teams of at least 5+ full-time IT staff on multiple, concurrent, complex IT projects.
- Customer facing to both internal co-workers and external customers.
- IT Strategy development and implementation, specifically relating to budgets, staffing, resource management and quality assurance.
- Visionary skills- assessing current systems and being able to guide/focus the IT strategy and vision to be better poised for the future.
- Knowledge of innovative, progressive and current technology- the ability to understand best practices and knowing when to abandon old and adopt new technologies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies – the individual should be familiar with a wide range of Microsoft applications, operating systems, server applications and tools (Service Brands International is a Certified Microsoft Gold Partner). Such applications might include Microsoft Office, SharePoint Technologies, Server Operating Systems and Active Directory Administration and SQL Server.
- Experience with networking concepts, equipment, connectivity, web development, code, servers, systems, content management, data management and trouble-shooting and protocols.
- Problem solving skills- the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Oral and written communication skills -the individual speaks and writes clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates excellent presentation skills (to both small and large audiences) and conducts productive meetings.
- Leadership—the individual inspires and motivates others to perform well, accepts feedback from others and continually acts in an ethical manner.
- Management skills—the individual includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; develops subordinates’ skills and encourages growth.
