Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and University Services to East St. Louis Head Start Program invite applications for substitute Child Care Helpers. These positions serve as a substitute teachers in the class room in the absence of a teacher, teacher aide and/or child care assistant. The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the supervision of children, coordinate and perform duties in the food service area in the Head Start/Early Head Start centers; and, support staff in the implementation of learning experiences provided to the children, their physical needs as well as, care and maintenance of center environment in the absence of the classroom teacher or teacher aid. Areas of service include East St. Louis, Belleville, Cahokia, Caseyville, Lovejoy, and Centerville, Illinois. Candidates must be able to follow directions and be a nurturing individual capable of interacting with children in a positive and appropriate manner.
Minimum qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalent
(An Associate’s degree in child development or early childhood education and at least three (3) months of experience in an early childhood setting is preferred.)
Starting salary: $8.00 per hour
