Job Description:
Responsible for managing all of the operational aspects of a small Third Party Administrative claim office, as well as responsible for handling complex coverage, commercial property / casualty, and litigated claims.
Responsibilities:
Accept and confirm newly reported losses and lawsuits with the insured
Request and obtain insurance policies
Review and confirm the existence of coverage for newly reported losses
Promptly address any and all coverage issues
Prepare letters of reservation of rights when appropriate
Put carrier on notice of newly received losses / lawsuits
Assign and direct approved defense counsel
Address obligations to accept or deny defense and indemnity for an additional insured
Respond to tenders of defense and indemnity or assign coverage counsel when complex
Compose complex large loss reports on a quarterly basis for the carrier and re-insurers
Provide complex large loss presentations to the carrier and re-insurer once a year
Complete loss runs for the insured prior to policy renewal date
Review and approve defense and vendor billing
Enter approved vendor bills into the claim payment system
Track and / or collect the insured self insured retention / deductible
Forward all vendor and defense billing to the carrier when the SIR / deductible is met
Keep and prepare itemized billing statements of all time spent on each claim.
Collect all outstanding amounts owed to International Managers by the insured
Complete monthly financial reports for the carrier
Maintain high quality claim files and financial records
Must be willing to work independently in a small office environment
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 5 years experience handling litigated claims
Excellent verbal, written, and overall people management skills
Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
Proven leadership ability
Strong analytical skills
Solid computer skills, experience with QuickBooks, Excel and Outlook a plus
A current Texas adjuster license; other State licenses a plus.
