Claims Supervisor (1635)
Description

This position is responsible for the day to day claims processing including but not limited to, over/short/damaged freight claims. The person in this position is responsible to identify,  research and resolve contract compliance discrepancies. The person in this position must communicate with internal and external customers to ensure customer and regulatory requirements are met in the most efficient and cost effective manner. This position manages multiple assignments simultaneously, has a thorough knowledge of the resources required to assess and process valid claims and must maintain positive customer relations.

  • Accurately translate and convey the various job requirements, including supplemental supporting materials, as described by the customer to the support staff.
  • Assign, assist, and support others to complete work to ensure claims processing coincides with the company’s desired objectives and are in accordance to applicable law.
  • Coordinate the communications and paperwork required for the proper submission of freight claims to vendors.
  • Respond to freight claims requests and other pertinent express services. Continually investigate, evaluate and resolve over, short, damaged and miscellaneous freight claims that may have caused the client lost revenues.
  • Continually evaluate, monitor and audit all aspects of the claims process, adherence to the reimbursement schedules and production performance. Run daily reports for number of open claims, those not approved and exceptions such as missing denied claims.
  • Promptly address issues arising regarding freight claim methods, procedures or disputes as posed by plants, stations, sales staff, co-workers, carriers and destination locations. Keep the customer appraised of any problems arising during the claims process and offer potential options for resolving discrepancies.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stations and external customers.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • May supervise work of other team members as assigned
  • Must demonstrate professional behaviors at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills

Minimum 5 years experience in a claims supervisory processing role.  Requires excellent customer service skills to include strong verbal and written communication.  Demonstrated ability to deliver results with minimum supervision. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.  Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.  Excellent problem identification and solving skills required.  Knowledge of distribution concepts, practices and procedures a must. Transportation experience, including LTL distribution, required. Computer skills required including proficiency using Microsoft Office software and Mercury Gate transportation software.
