Our teams at a customer site in rural Prince Georges County clean, sort, and analyze tremendous data sets. We employ COTS, Open Source and proprietary technologies to store and parse these massive data collections, and have a new opportunity for a talented Databse Architect.  Duties will include:

  1. Tuning and designing a variety of databases for performance, scalability and stability
  2. Development, Testing and Production support will include trigger and query design, views, stored procedures, performance tuning, optimization, and table partitioning
  3. Design and implementation of online hot backup, restore, and recovery solutions
  4. Design and management of load balancing and high availability architecture
  5. Identify architectural issues and propose alternative solutions
  6. Planning, implementing, supporting data conversion efforts
  7. Provide in-depth analysis of queries in support of application development teams
  8. Design and develop GUIs which enable end-users to envision and model patterns revealed through analysis

 Technologies you will use:

  1. Sybase IQ (a columnar database which scales unlike RDBMS)
  2. Open Source databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  3. Oracle 10g and above
  4. High-end hardware (multi-core servers, clusters, SAN/NAS, etc.)
  5. UNIX and Linux scripting
  6. PL/SQL
  7. JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, and associated GUI development tools

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. Current TS/SCI clearance (TS required)
  2. Hands-on experience with enterprise level databases from multiple sources
  3. Detailed knowledge of UNIX/Linux commands and utilities and an understanding of OS level performance monitoring
  4. Experience with unstructured data and production systems
  5. Bachelors degree in CS or closely related field preferred but not required
