Clin Research Finance Mgr, Sr

JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinates and oversees the financial management of federal or large multi-site grants. Functions as a preceptor or supervisor and provides administrative oversight. Develops budget and writes budget justification. Resolves problems and issues resulting from routing proposals through University. Finalizes contracts and indemnification agreements through the Office of Sponsored Programs. Adheres to Cost Accounting Standards and justify exceptions for approval. Negotiates budget, prepares best and final offer, and obtains final University approval. Prepares continuation applications and study extensions. Prepares technical progress reports; monitors expenditures and staffing levels. Assures compliance with expenditures for small/disadvantaged business sub-contracts. Reviews OGCA financial reports for accuracy prior to submission to funding agency. Resolves billing problems and issues with Accounts Payable, P-card vendors, Emory Clinic and Hospital. Approves purchase orders and maintenance agreements for equipment. Monitors budget and accomplish study goals within budget. Analyzes and presents financial status and statistical data. Communicates with sponsor/contract officer for budget queries and required deliveries. Prepares University fiscal year budgets. Attends departmental and school research administration meetings, Clinical Trials Office meetings. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, nursing or a scientific field from an accredited college or university. Five years of experience in accounting, business or research administration, or a health related field, which includes three years of direct clinical research experience. Experience interacting with medical providers and pharmaceutical sponsors and managing clinical trials. Knowledge of medical terminology.
