Position Description

Responsible for working with clinical users to analyze issues, look for root causes, document defects and when appropriate communicate details to appropriate software vendor. Responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating programs for clinical healthcare systems. Analyzes existing programs, prepares flowcharts, performs coding, and tests/debugs programs. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Recommends changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Trains users in conversion and implementation of system.



Responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating programs for internal functional areas including finance, human resources, and marketing. Analyzes existing programs or formulates logic for new systems, devises logic procedures, prepares flowcharting, performs coding, and tests/debugs programs. Develops conversion and system implementation plans. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Recommends changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Trains users in conversion and implementation of system.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Experience with Unix and shell scripting, Linux, Java, Oracle relational database concepts, SQL, HTML, McKesson Horizon Clinical applications (specifically Care Record, Expert Orders, Expert Documentation, Emergency Care, Physician Portal, Patient Folder, and Enterprise Visibility), and HL7 or interfaces between systems is a plus.

Minimum Requirements

4+ years experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems



Unix and shell scripting, Linux, Java, Oracle relational database concepts, SQL, HTML, interfaces between systems.

Education

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
