- Delivers and sets up respiratory equipment for Apria patients.
- Conducts downloads of recording devices such as apnea monitors, oximeters, CPAP devices, and other respiratory equipment.
- Performs functional tests on certain respiratory equipment as required by branch.
- Instructs patients on the basic use of their self-administration of respiratory equipment, as approved by local and state licensure limitations.
- Ensures that patients understand the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment.
- Conducts appropriate patient follow-up contacts. Responds to emergency calls on an on-call basis with clinical backup.
- Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent patient information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
- Consults with respiratory care practitioner regarding patient treatment, medical condition and home environment.
- Responds to telephone, fax and EDI inquiries and orders from referral sources and homecare patients.
- Documents referral request for coordination of care.
- Provides information on equipment, supplies and services.
- May assist walk-in patients with the selection of equipment, supplies and services.
- Ensures proper selection of information online to ensure timely delivery and appropriate revenue recognition for order.
- Maintains appropriate documentation received with order and conducts follow-up as applicable.
- Contacts patient to: advise them of the order placed on their behalf and to confirm all patient demographic information; to communicate any financial responsibilities and/or additional information necessary for processing the order received; to promote other company product and services, as appropriate.
- Demonstrates professional etiquette and courtesy when interfacing with customers.
- Resolves patient/customer complaints by identifying problems and coordinating appropriate corrective action.
- Assesses patient needs and promotes company products and services.
- Complies with and adheres to all regulatory compliance areas, policies and procedures, and "best practices".
- Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor
- Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required.
- At least two years related experience is required.
- Successful completion of Apria Healthcare's Certification Program
