Clinical Field Nursing Specialist CVS
Position Summary : The Clinical Nursing Specialist provides a direct relationship with chronic and rare disease state patients for training and education for therapy administration and disease management. Position will manage patient therapy administration and disease state education as well as Home Health Agency nurse education for adjunct therapy administration within a specific geographical territory. The specialist will provide education and training to both newly diagnosed and existing patients and family members starting on an injectable therapy.
The specialist will also provide home health agency training and in-office physician and nurse support and education for chronic and rare disease state patients, as well as promote program services provided to patients in the management of these therapies.
The Clinical Field Nursing Specialist will be responsible for providing therapy and disease state education, training, and field support related to the clinical support program administrated by TheraCom on behalf of the client manufaturer within a defined regional area (routinely) and throughout the US (on an as needed basis).
Travel within terrority required. Territory will consist of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisanna, New Mexico and Colorado.
Qualifications : Provides highly specialized education and training to patients and caregivers with an existing or newly diagnosed chronic disease requiring an injection therapy product. Coordinates the referral and therapy treatment/teaching plans with support program hub as well as treatment centers and centers of excellence within specific disease state for initiating injection therapy for rare or chronic disease states. Identifies qualified home care agencies within territory to fulfill homecare teaching as adjunct to field nurse training. Performs education of home care nursing agency's staff to enable agency to become qualified to accept patient support program referrals for chronic injectable or infusion therapies. Provides therapy education and training to physicians and nurses for these rare or chronic disease states. Provides clinical support and advice in the appropriate management of this patient. Participates in the after hours support program call coverage as needed. Participates in the development of program specific educational materials for the rare and chronic disease states and treatments, as requested. Attend and participate in meetings held by manufacturers or seminars held by organizations supportive of clinical programs for the treatment and diagnosis on rare or chronic diseases. Travel outside the defined regional territory on a prn basis as needed to support the clinical program.
Education : Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program. BS/BA/BSN preferred. Current licensure territory/states of practice with ability to obtain licensure in additional states, as needed. Nursing certification (MSCN, MSCS) or specialization in multiple sclerosis preferred. Willing to obtain certification within first year of employment.
Experience : Registered Nurse with at least 5 years experience in call center, home health, or clinical field-based patient education. Demonstrated experience in managing patients with chronic and/or rare disease states is preferred. Home health or clinical field-based patient education experience to include understanding of chronic and/or rare disease states, specifically multiple sclerosis; home care regulations to include Medicare and Medicaid as well as home health agency accreditation requirements; demonstrated knowledge of information systems; demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Home care experience. Patient education experience. Multiple sclerosis experience preferred and/or other rare and chronic disease states. Preference will be given to nurses with current multiple sclerosis experience and/or certification. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated problem resolution experience. Demonstrated excellent customer service approach in verbal and written communications. Ability to work independently and is self-directed. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Active valid state driver's license. Ability to drive. CPR certified.
