Position Summary
To direct, supervise, train and manage Zenith branch nurses in accordance with organizational expectations, ensuring that medical management branch operations are effective, appropriate, timely and compliant with internal and external expectations, including regulatory and/or statutory jurisdictional requirements.
General Responsibilities
· Participates in the development and maintenance of nursing policies and procedures
· Plans for and manage daily operations of branch nurses and claim offices including resolution of the nursing team’s daily work assignments in a timely manner, providing clinical expertise and direction to the medical management and/or claims team as needed and ensuring adequate staffing coverage as needed
· Assists in the preparation and/or instruction of training classes on topics such as nursing/clinical education, effective case management, and medical management programs ro processes
· Conducts orientation and training all new and existing staff as indicated on both organizational changes as well as departmental initiatives
· Participates in monthly (or more frequently as needed) management meetings
· Participates and/or leads monthly nursing meetings
· Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for nurses
· Conducts and facilitates regular staff meetings with the nurses to assist with communication within Medical Management and with the branch claims team as needed
· Initiates and completes all reporting nurses’ mid year and annual performance evaluations
· Assures that staff adheres to all Zenith policies and procedures
· Completes all quality assessment reviews as required on all staff
· Completes all organizational assessments as required.
Training Responsibilities
· Educates nursing staff in case management, utilization review and return to work staff as indicated.
· Provides training and mentoring to staff whose performance is not meeting expectations.
· Conducts regular training with staff on all new or updated medical management processes and procedures.
· Participates in continuing education opportunities and promotes education of their staff.
Professional Development
· Maintains clear and active RN license in state(s) employed
· Maintain certifications as required by jurisdictions but also acquires certification within eighteen months of employment with Zenith.
· Pursues continuing education to maintain RN active status as well as meet certification requirements
· Continually updates knowledge of Workers' Compensation statutes and changes through self-development program including researching, reading, and attending classes or seminars
· Maintains strong written and verbal communication skills
Education/Skills and Experience Requirements
· Degree from an accredited nursing school required, with Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred.
· Maintain current unrestricted registered nurse (R.N.) license in the state where the position is based and other assigned states as required by law.
· Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
· Pursues continuing education as it pertains to maintaining RN licensure and certification
· Professional certification required in one of the following: CCM, OR COHN, OR CRRN OR CDMS
· Travel may be required for training and departmental meetings
· Travel may also be required between branches to provide supervisory oversight to nurses that sit in other branches (frequency determined by manager but may be weekly to support operation)
