Clinical Office Coordinator/Medical Assistant

Facility: Emerson Hospital, Baker Ave Facility, Concord MA
Department: Surgical Weight Loss
- Full Time - Mon - Fri 8am - 4:30pm
- Day shift

Job Summary


Reporting to the Office Manager and General Surgeon, the Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician.

 

Job Functions

1. Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
2. Assists with billing functions and light coding responsibilities.
3. Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
4. Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately.
5. Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments,
surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
6. Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications.
7. Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard
copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.
8. Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary.
9. Communicates with physicians’ offices and staff in a timely and professional manner.
10. Other duties as assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience
    • One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred.
  • Licensure and/or Certification

                    Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred.

  • Skills

    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required. Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medial records preferred
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
    • Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information required.
