Clinical Pharmacist

- Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Pharmacy, is responsible for the operations and personnel of a satellite pharmacy by overseeing the filling and dispensing of medication orders and ensuring the proper handling, usage and storage of drugs. Provides clinical pharmacy services and information to the physicians and residents within patient care units served by satellite pharmacy. Responsible for teaching pharmacy technicians, pharmacy and medical students, and member of the house staff. Analytical ability necessary to accurately assess patients and plan their drug therapy. Communication skills required for concise dissemination of information to patients, nurses and physicians. Administrative skills necessary to coordinate the personnel and operations of a satellite pharmacy. Teaching skills required for the preceptiorship of pharmacy students and the participation in professional educational seminars. A professional level of knowledge generally obtained through completion of a Pharmacy Doctorate or a clinically oriented Masters of Pharmacy Degree with an ASHP accredited residency in Hospital Pharmacy. Registration as a Pharmacist in Massachusetts is required.
