The Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the clinical teams including the disease state patient care teams, staff pharmacists and nursing staff by ensuring workflow efficiencies, developing procedures and employees, managing clinical projects and facilitating implementations.
 
Responsibilities:
 
1. Manages the production and quality process of the clinical teams including disease state patient care services, pharmacists and nursing services by allocating resources to ensure workflow efficiencies. Manages and coordinates the adherence to established customer standards by ensuring proper staffing levels of clinical teams.
2. Develops the Pharmacists, Group Supervisors and Nurses in addition to their teams of disease state and clinical employees through orientation, training, communication of rules and constructive discipline while building employee morale, motivation, and loyalty. Identifies and develops employees' abilities for promotional opportunities and potential contribution to the Company in order to meet the changing needs of the facility. Informs all appropriate personnel of departments' plans, programs, and operations that affect their areas, and encourages feedback from all employees to increase productivity. Implements department organization structure through proper hiring and placement, scheduling of work, assignment of responsibility, and delegation of authority. Develops employees through orientation, training, establishment of objectives, communication of rules and constructive discipline.
3. Manages the production and efficiency of the issue resolution process. Manages and ensures there is a high level of focus on customer service and client relations. Ensures that customer complaints and inquiries are satisfactorily resolved by pushing orders through the system, authorizing reships and consulting with supervisors, team leads and patients to ensure complaints are resolved appropriately. Reviews all issues tracked in the issue tracking system.
4. Manages clinical projects that affect outcomes and goals for patients on service at the facility.  These projects include, but are not limited to accreditation requirements, new or revised clinical programs, policies and procedures development and implementation, education and in-services, Quality/Performance Improvement Programs.
5. Coordinates and initiates ongoing clinical training including continuing education credits for pharmacists and technicians, new program education, disease state training and manufacturer training.
6. Facilitates the implementation of new technology and maintains an operating knowledge of computer systems and software that affect the facility's operation and performance.
7. Develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Detail Aids in accordance with state and federal regulations related to pharmacy law required to service the patients based on changes related to the industry, system and prescription processing in addition to the needs of the business.
8. Maintains awareness of developments in the pharmaceutical and patient care industry and ensures compliance with government regulations, legal standards and requirements including, by not limited to licensing requirements, completing facility and insurance audits and maintaining drug records. Controls the security of controlled substances and maintains proper records of all receipts and dispensing of controlled substances.
9. Participate in the company Quality Improvement program and education programs as per policy and procedures.
10. Other related duties as assigned.
 


Minimum Requirements 


  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy 

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Strong Management skills

  • Ability to learn and use new computer systems.



  • Ability to take and pass other state license exams based on facility needs. 



  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team



  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and able to work independently



Preferred


  • 5+ years experience in healthcare or specialty pharmacy strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • PharmD degree in Pharmacy strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of specialty medications and disease states.

  • Active membership in a related state or national pharmacy organization (i.e. AMCP, APhA)
