Job Description
The Senior Clinical Systems Analyst position is a subject matter expert or supervisor level position responsible for designing, building, and testing clinical application solutions. The Clinical Systems Analyst assesses, plans, implements and evaluates information system support needs for patient care operations according to own clinical judgment, policies, procedures, protocol and standards. As an internal consultant, the Clinical Systems Analyst is responsible for system assessment, process analysis, identification of system requirements, and functional definition of planned system changes. The Clinical Systems Analyst is responsible for identifying and implementing information system solutions that support more efficient and effective work performance based on inherent knowledge of clinical functions and processes. The Clinical Systems Analyst develops and manages project plans for the deployment of new and/or changes to information system applications. The Clinical Systems Analyst administers system applications and serves as an educator and resource regarding system functionality. The Clinical Systems Analyst is responsible for functioning within scope of individual education, licensure and competence. Must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction.
This position involves working with end users, and or leading a team of systems analysts, to gather application specifications, creating detailed design specifications, documenting change requests, building application solutions using development tools, documenting and executing test cases, and debugging applications. This position will also require active involvement in release management, software configuration & change management, end-user training, and technical documentation associated with various applications, such as Clinical applications in both HealthSouth corporate offices and remote hospital facilities.
Although this position will perform all of the functions of an senior-level systems analyst, this person will have the added responsibilities of managing vendor relationships, supervising and developing employees, leading complex application development projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
License or Certification:
- Valid state driver-s license
Education, Training and Years of Experience:
- Associates Degree or Undergraduate degree recommended
- Minimum of 5 years healthcare information technology experience
- Experience with an application vendor or consulting group is preferred
- Cerner Technical Certifications are preferred but not required
- Expertise in:
- Clinical workflow process analysis and design
- Patient Safety, clinical quality, and operational efficiency workflow process analysis and design
- Systems development life cycle
- Clinical and business requirements definition and documentation
- Release management
- Change management
- End user training execution and documentation
- Expertise with regulatory compliance:
- HIPAA
- Medicare
- CMS
- Joint Commission
- Sarbanes-Oxley
- Privacy and Security
- Senior Clinical Systems Analyst requirements:
- Senior Clinical systems analysts will supervise a team of Clinical systems analysts or be subject matter experts in one or more of the following clinical applications:
- Cerner Millennium
- Cerner Core Architecture
- Cerner PowerChart, PowerNote, PowerPlans, PowerOrders, and Advanced documentation
- Cerner Harmed
o Medication Administration
o Pharmacy Order Imaging
o RX Cabinets
- Cerner Enterprise Scheduling Management
- Cerner CareMobile
- Senior Clinical systems analyst will have prerequisite health care industry expertise in one or more of the following:
- Advanced patient care documentation (Physician, Nursing, and other caregiver)
- Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE)
- Medication Administration
- Clinical coding
- Senior Clinical systems analyst will have prerequisite Health Care information technology industry expertise in one or more of the following:
- Interface development and maintenance (HL-7)
- Interface development and maintenance (Extensible Markup Language (XML)
- Clinical coding (ICD 9/10)
- Document Imaging
- End user device mobility (tablet PCs, mobile devices, etc.)
