The Opportunity:

            Precision Therapeutics, Inc. is a biotechnology company located on the South Side of Pittsburgh. Precision assists Oncologists in selecting effective cancer therapies for cancer patients. More specifically, the clinical trials team helps to achieve both company-based goals and oncology-based advances in the treatment of cancer. We are currently seeking a full time Clinical Trials Research Technologist to join the Clinical Trials Laboratory team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

This is an opening for a laboratory biologist position in the field of Clinical Trials Research. The laboratory at Precision has and continues to establish and maintain several self-initiated clinical trials while also being invited to participate in larger trials run by national cooperative groups.  Participation in such studies is pivotal in demonstrating the clinical utility of the current company product, the ChemoFx Assay.  As a member of a highly skilled, professional Clinical Trials Laboratory team, the Clinical Trials Research Technologist will be expected to conduct clinical trial laboratory protocols according to a set of standard operating procedures, assist a team of biostatisticians with data review, conduct data analysis and verification, perform genomic protocols such as collection and extraction of RNA, perform genomic analysis protocols for RNA, assist in lab maintenance including all equipment therein and will be responsible for cell culture maintenance. Cell culture maintenance includes but is not limited to specimen processing, conducting the ChemoFx® assay and immunocytochemistry. Additional responsibilities may include participating in new Clinical Trial development and SOP generation for new protocols. This position is best suited for someone capable of working both independently and in a team environment. Qualifications:

  • Education
    • Minimally, a bachelors degree in a biology-related discipline
  • Experience
    • Minimally, 2-3 years laboratory experience focused in cell culture, genomics, or general biology laboratory research
    • Preferably knowledge of / experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting
    • Experience with genomic technologies, including nucleic acid isolation, purification, and analysis
    • Preferably experience conducting laboratory protocols for clinical trials

 

  • Required Skills
    • Extensive experience with sterile laboratory technique
    • Mammalian, ideally primary human cell culture experience
    • Independent problem solver who makes sound decisions
    • Highly organized and detail oriented, focus on Quality
    • Able to follow instructions and management direction
    • Productive, able to complete work on time
    • Able to function well in a team-based environment
    • Clear and effective communication skills
