JOB SUMMARY
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates competence in emergency department assessment of identifying normal level of function versusalterations from normal parameters.
Utilizes standards of emergency department nursing practice and the nursing process in daily practice.
Prioritizes within an emergency department environment involving high bed turnover.
Performs triage of all patients entering the ED to determine need for interventions based on changing conditions.
Coordinates the care of patient when multiple physicians are involved with patients.
Controls traffic in patient care area to facilitate privacy and yet provide compassionate and efficient care of patient.
Coordinates admissions of complex patients to units, i.e., critical care.
Plans for total care when patient stays in the ED for extended period waiting for bed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION/TRAINING (or equivalent)
Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
Other: 10 CEUs per year upon hire
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS (with minimum requirements indicated as appropriate)
2 years clinical experience in Emergency related field.
Detailed knowledge of current Emergency nursing processes and techniques as well as Emergency Department and medical procedures.
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES
Current licensure as R.N. in State of Missouri
Current BCLS within 3 months of hire
Current ACLS within 1 year of hire
Current Trauma Nurse Critical Care (TNCC) or within 2 years of hire
Haz Mat Hospital Operations within 2 years of hire
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification (ENPC) and/or PALS within 2 years of hire
