Coder II
Central Florida Regional Hospital, part of the growing HCA West and Central Florida hospital system, is an award-winning 226-bed acute care facility. We're home to the only open heart program in the county, and offer recognized Centers of Excellence including:Chest Pain Center * Heart & Vascular Institute * Stroke Center
The Coder II is responsible for complete and accurate assignment of ICD-9-CM and CPT codes in accordance with current internal and external coding guidelines. The Coder II will abstract clinical, demographic and quality information from medical records for statistical, indexing and third party payor reimbursement purposes. This person will also support Coding Supervisor's auditing, reporting and educational functions as appropriate.
The Coder II exhibits an excellent working knowledge of Diagnostic Related Groups, sequencing of procedure and diagnosis codes and selection of Principal diagnosis and procedure codes in addition to an understanding of Peer Review Organization quality initiatives and Medicare reimbursement guidelines.
- RHIT, RHIA or CCS preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience acute care coding and/or DRG auditing required.
