Position Description:

Provides training and support for HIM hospital coding associates in SEWI. Develops training programs and supporting materials to conduct classroom and/or on-the-job training of new and existing employees. Maintains expert level knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems. Keeps informed of current coding regulations, professional standards, organization and departmental policies and procedures and effectively applies this knowledge. Will be instrumental in the implementation of ICD-10.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: HS Diploma required, however completion of Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) strongly preferred. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required. Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of 5-7 years hospital coding experience. Candidates must have extensive working proficiency of ICD-9-CM, CPT coding and DRG and APC reimbursement systems; Proficiency in MS-DRG's, POA, HAC, and RAC. Extensive knowledge of CMS reimbursement regulations required.

Hours: Hours: Position is an exempt role and while hours are predominately first shift, this role will require the staff member to work the hours as indicated by the Administrative Director of HIM and as departmental needs require.
