Coding Quality Specialist

MedStar Health, non-profit, community-based healthcare organization serving the Baltimore/Washington region, has an immediate opportunity for a detail-oriented, experienced Coding Quality Specialist.

 

This is a full-time position in which you will perform coding quality reviews on out patient Medical Records in an accurate and timely manner. Expect to make presentations as needed, and provide support and assistance to less qualified Coders.

 

Requirements include:

·         Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentials

·         5 years’ coding experience in an acute setting with strong outpatient coding skills

·         Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet utilization, plus experience with computer systems and encoding and abstracting programs

·         Minimum of a high school diploma

·         Excellent public speaking, presentation, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills

Preferred candidates will have:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management with successful completion of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and coding (ICD-9-CM and CPT-4) courses

·         1 year of auditing experience

·         RHIT or RHIA certification
