Collections Officer – F/T, Non-Exempt Status

E Federal Credit Union, a dynamic credit union with a 75-year history of solid growth and stability in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a service-oriented, motivated team player to join our team as a Collections Officer. 

The position is responsible for the control of delinquent loan accounts and pending late payment reminders.  This individual must have the knowledge and ability to contact and follow-up on delinquent account balances by telephone and/or mail to determine the reasons for delinquency and assist the member in developing plans to bring accounts to a current status while maintaining accurate records.

The individual will be expected to retain a working knowledge and understanding of the credit union’s collections policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws and regulations. 

Critical Knowledge, Skill and Educational Requirements:

n      High School Diploma or equivalent.  

n      A minimum of 5 years experience in collections at a depository financial institution.  Prior Credit Union experience is highly desirable. 

n      Knowledge of:

·        Credit Union or regulated financial institution operations, policies and procedures.

·        Federal and State financial institution laws and regulations pertaining to deposit, loan and electronic products and services.

n      Ability to respond to a competitive and rapidly changing financial service environment.

n      Ability to effectively manage many accounts simultaneously.

n      Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to project professional and business-like image on behalf of the Credit Union.

n      Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

n      Exceptional organizational skills.

n      Must be dependable and reliable.

n      Must pass all credit and bond requirements.
