Role Summary/Purpose The Commercial Controllership Analyst will partner with the commercial finance teams to help them in applying appropriate revenue recognition rules through review of commercial contracts and continuous training and education across business functions
Essential Responsibilities · Upfront involvement in structuring terms & conditions on customer contracts · Assist in maintaining controls over changes to standard terms & conditions · Assist with training to ensure compliance with global revenue recognition policies · Assist with SOX 404 requirements specific to revenue recognition · Research and resolution of complex finance and accounting issues · Perform ad hoc special projects
Qualifications/Requirements · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance· CPA or equivalent designation· Minimum 7 years experience in corporate finance, accounting, or controllership· Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change. · Clear thinking / problem solving: successfully led cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations/finance function involving process improvement; able to grasp new ideas quickly.· Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing.· Solid PC skills: experience with financial systems/applications (i.e.: Oracle, COGNOS, Business Objects, etc.), strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (i.e. pivot tables, VLookup, & Macros).· You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background.· You must be willing to take a drug test.· You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.· You must be willing to work at our Waukesha, WI facility. Desired Characteristics · 2 years public accounting experience · Revenue Recognition knowledge (SAB 104, SOP 97-2, EITF 00-21, FAS 13)· Confidence / Assertiveness: strong influencing skills across business functions; confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position; for example, work closely with business leaders to achieve business objectives while driving controllership/GE Values· Experience working in global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows· Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment and succeed in a matrixed environment· Adaptable/flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations· Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others· Graduate of GE's Financial Management Program (FMP), Corporate Audit Staff (CAS); or graduate of other financial leadership programs· Trained and/or certified in process improvement methodology such as LEAN or Six Sigma· Local candidate preferred· Previous GE experience
