We are happy to offer the following position for a Loan Officer with a Commercial Lender in Buffalo, New York.
JOB SUMMARY:
Conduct on-site due diligence (auditing) on prospective and existing customers by examining business trends and collateral strengths and weaknesses. Collateral is evaluated by performing detailed substantive tests and analysis. Based on this analysis, the Loan Analyst/Auditor independently evaluates the collateral and credit quality of the credit and makes appropriate recommendations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Perform on-site field examinations of new business transactions and existing portfolio accounts for:
- New business transactions, conduct an initial meeting with the investment officer and underwriter to gain a clear understanding of the transaction structure, terms and conditions per the term sheet and as further described in the initial client memo. Gain an understanding of any proposed collateral (when applicable) to secure out loan. Coordinate and discuss with the assigned Underwriting Officer or Credit Officer the scope of the diligence.
- Recurring portfolio examinations, conduct an initial meeting with the loan officer to gain a clear understanding of the transaction structure, terms and conditions per the approval sheet, current account rating and servicing. Coordinate and discuss with the Audit Manager the scope of the diligence.
- On-site review/testing of company records to verify the integrity of the financial data submitted; verify the accuracy of the collateral record keeping and systems. Through inspection and substantive procedures, verify the existence and valuation of collateral
- Discuss key financial trends with management and perform verification of financial statement accounts where appropriate
- Prepare a comprehensive report to document the field examination findings and results of substantive procedures performed
- Assist the Underwriting Officer in his/her analysis of the company’s operations, collateral and financial performance for new business assignments
- Assist where required in preparation of the Underwriting Officers reports, models, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Accounting, auditing, and commercial lending skills.
Minimum of Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting.
CPA designation is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Extensive travel is required, frequently on short notice.
- Ability to work overtime is required.
- Successful candidate will be deadline oriented.
