Bloomberg Commodities Core Energy team works on applications for traders and analysts in the oil, gas, power, metal, and agriculture markets. Our clients include banks, trading houses, hedge funds, and corporations. We provide real time and comprehensive historical pricing and fundamental data to give our users complete views of supply, demand, and other critical factors that influence the movement of commodity prices. We are building out new applications such as real time ISO price monitoring on the map and support for global weather forecast that require big data support and low latency execution.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable architecting systems (design a database, improve performance etc.) as well as creating intuitive user interfaces. The candidate is also expected to work on all aspects of the software development cycle. Knowledge about the commodity market is not required but would be a plus.
- C++, C, Python in Unix environment for backend development
- Google test framework
- Git for source control
- Phabricator for code reviews
- 3 plus years of software development experience in C++ and object oriented programming skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Good communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with other developers as well as with business managers.
- Experience with low latency system is a plus.
- Experience with developing GIS applications is a plus
