The Commodity Analyst position is responsible for providing broad commercial, financial, and technical support to both commodity and strategic sourcing managers. Furthermore, this role is responsible for market analysis and strategy development for key materials and services. In addition, the Commodity Analyst will assist with developing, negotiating, implementing and maintaining competitively advantageous supply arrangements. Activities will include the support of Request for Proposal process, Supplier price and cost analysis, contract negotiations and administration. The Commodity Analyst is expected to handle a variety of fluctuating tasks and must ensure that proper procurement practices are followed.
Job Responsibilities
Perform in-depth analysis of key supplier markets as delegated by the commodity sourcing managers and strategic sourcing managers.
Execute the source process by developing, negotiating, implementing, or sustaining supply contracts consistent with business requirements.
Understand and be able to execute delegated steps of the sourcing work process in accordance with organizational processes.
Develop total cost of ownership models.
Owns the implementation and compliance monitoring of work process.
Manage supplier performance and maintain interface at senior levels of supplier's organization.
Monitor and communicate changing market conditions to the sourcing team(s).
Responsible for corporate policies specific to commodities supported.
Ensure the sourcing process is consistent with the necessary regulatory and legal requirements.
Participate on cross-functional teams involved in supplier discovery.
Assist in the identification of innovative supplier solutions as necessary.
At least three years of in-direct experience within services, such as healthcare benefits, insurance or travel.
Strong analytical skills required with problem solving ability.
Strong proficiency Microsoft Access & Excel as well as other MS Office applications.
Ability to understand usage and application of databases, with ability to master tools
Clear understanding of financial reporting tools and concepts
