This individual manages the overall direction, process and spend associated with Johnson Controls Saft (JCS) purchases of capital equipment for the expansion of hybrid battery production facilities in the US. In addition, as JCS' expansion is completed this person will transition from managing solely capital equipment to managing direct material commodities. In this role this person will actively support the development of a sourcing strategy, translate strategy into objectives/action plans & drive execution of the objectives for assigned commodities aligned with the business/sourcing strategy & corporate goals. Essential Functions - Lead supplier selection, development & strategic supplier management
- Effectively lead/project manage cross-functional teams through RFP process including requirements definition, bid/negotiations, contract documentation & integration ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained at each program gate
- Develop & lead negotiation strategies with suppliers & establishing strong contractual relationships including clear Statements of Work/Service Level Agreements
- Provide overall vendor management including ensuring tactical execution within assigned commodities
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements: - At least 5 years experience in purchasing (focus on capital spend category), materials management or economics.
- Bachelor's degree in related field. MBA in related field preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, effective Team Player, self motivated, quick learner
- Must be comfortable with making decisions, and working within a cross functional team
- A quick study, ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and engage in activities that will lead to improvements.
- Excellent communication skills
