SUMMARY
COMMODITY MANAGER - ELECTRICAL
Responsible for the most cost effective use of company funds to procure assigned
materials and services. This includes managing the supply chain through
supporting servicing the material and informational requirement of JLG to meet
both short and long range objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Select sources and assure timely delivery of quality material to the point of
use to support production requirements.
Develop, recommend and coordinate purchasing objectives, including cost
reduction, new and existing source development, on-time delivery, improved
quality, enhanced vendor services and improved supplier interest in JLG's
business.
Research markets to uncover new sources to stimulate competition and bring
forward new technology as well as innovative products.
Negotiate and administer contracts most favorable to JLG, assuring appropriate
documentation within legal, ethical and JLG standards.
Maintain appropriate records of communication with suppliers regarding
commitments of price and delivery.
Obtain quotations as a basis for negotiating contracts.
Manage and be cognitive of all communication between JLG and suppliers of
assigned commodities.
Assure that all purchases comply with approvals defined in JLG policies.
Maintain a professional "arms length" business relationship with
suppliers.
Resolve discrepancies and disputes regarding invoices, quality and delivery in a
timely cost effective manner. Work effectively with all other JLG people to
assure compliance with the company mission.
Negotiate and assure the timely return and/or sale of discrepant, obsolete or
excess material.
Conduct all business within company policies and procedures.
Set standard costs of assigned commodities in compliance with the methods and/or
guidelines developed by the Controller.
Maintain a current knowledge of purchasing as well as assigned commodities.
Accomplish projects assigned by the Director of Purchasing.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS [SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES]
Reports to Director of Purchasing.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or Engineering and/or 6-10 years
of purchasing experience. Thorough knowledge of purchasing policies and
procedures and internal sound business controls is needed. Must have commodity
experience in an allied industry and in a production shop utilizing MRP II.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is preferable.
