This is an opportunity to gain managerial, technical and industry experience if you are decisive, have excellent communication, negotiation and persuasion skills and possess the underlyin foundation of quantitative and analysis skills. If you possess the raw skills and talent, training in Commodity Risk Management and the intricacies of the LME will be provided.

 

You will manage the function and provide a high level of support to the Vice President of Global Risk in the operational activities of managing risk exposures and derivative instrument execution for internal and external transactions according the Aleris International Risk Management Policy. You will oversee and perform analytical tasks associated with identifying and quantifying current and potential risk exposures and providing appropriate performance measurements. This position will also require support for presentations to executives and internal and external customers in support of the commercial function.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain and oversee a well-controlled process to provide accurate information for which appropriate hedging transactions are executed.  This process includes internal hedging data and transactions and external third party transactions.
  • Ensure financial derivative contracts are executed according to the appropriate strategy, using the proper financial instrument and execution process, with approved third party counterparties.
  • Provide quantitative analytical support in decision-making for commodity risk transactions involving financial, commercial or purchasing functions.
  • Effectively manage internal relationships with business groups, sales, purchasing, treasury and non-metals procurement
  • Assist in the efforts to ensure processes are documented and conform to required internal controls and SOX requirements.
  • Understand the risk management process across functional areas (finance, tax, Treasury, sales, purchasing, legal).
  • Assist in the negotiation of counterparty agreements and documentation.

 

Qualifications;

  • BS/BA in Statistics, Math, Economics, Business, Finance or another technically related degree with high academic achievement.  Master’s Degree in Business Analysis or another technically related advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 + years experience demonstrating proven analytical ability and output.
  • Commodity knowledge or experience in a manufacturing environment helpful.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, quantitative-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel, Access and other analysis or database software skills.  
  • Strong organizational skills and with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects & tasks/changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
