Communication Engineer - USACAPOC
Coordinate communications training for mobilizing units. This includes all communication platforms within the USACAPOC Inventory: Harris HF, Thales MBITR, and SATCOM. Perform duty specific training for Signal Officers and staff. This includes: Base Station operation and maintenance, simple frequency management, Antenna theory and application, handling and transferring Crypto, and PMCS of all systems.
Ø Provide a command wide plan for sustainment training that will be conducted in Garrison during Battle Assembly and Annual Training
Ø Keep abreast of the latest in communication technology and provide that information to the G-6. This includes hardware, software and accessories that will improve overall communications reliability within the command
Ø Provide units with information and training needed to operate a TACLAN in Garrison or in theater. This includes coordinating with Team TACLAN for training, and being the liaison during the training to provide a real world view of the USACAPOC mission and how the TACLAN is incorporated in that mission.
Ø Assist the communications team in developing data over HF, and SATCOM technology. This project requires knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange and basic network topology, to interface communications equipment into an Active Directory Forest to send mail and files through the radio network to users on the LAN/WAN.
Ø Maintain all tactical IT systems that are used in Garrison and Theater operations. This includes but is not limited to: Product Development Workstation Heavy & Light (PDWS-H/L), Field Computing Device (FCD), Mission Planning Kit (MPK), Swiftlink Auto-Acquire deployable satellite systems, and BGAN/Inmarsat small tactical satellite terminals.
Ø Working with program managers of above listed systems to ensure that the ever changing CA and Psyop mission requirements are being met with the hardware and software that is being provided.
Ø Maintain a future view of what tactical assets are on the horizon, and informing the G-6 about upcoming changes. Provide a testing platform for these new technologies.
The Tactical Team is a reliable point of contact for deployed forces, as a tier two or three support, if the local command or maneuver element cannot resolve the issue. It will also act as a buffer between the G-6 and deployed soldiers if there are technical issues or hardware requirements that may not have been planned for during the Pre-mobilization time frame.
