Description

The Communication and Pursuits Strategist (CaPS) provides strategic and tactical support as part of an Area Business Development team. CaPS work as a member of the pursuit team to develop a communications plan through campaigns, qualifications, proposals, oral presentations and other documents to help win new business. He/she actively participates in the development of proposal strategy, authoring proposals, and company research and proposal production and may specialize in a few specific industries or functional areas.
Responsibilities
Co-develops strategic and tactical proposals and campaigns with Business Development executives and client serving professionals to win new business.
Develops proposals for business opportunities and responds to proposal requests. Research and write standard and customized proposals.
Works closely with Business Development executives and senior management to develop responses that convey a unique proposal strategy for the client.
Ensures a smooth flow of information and consistent messaging in proposals by proofing, editing and rewriting all sections of the proposal as required.
Participates in strategy, status and follow-up meetings on proposals.
Prioritizes proposal writing assignments and coordinates the flow of information from various department contributors to ensure that all deadlines are met.
May assist Business Development executives in the identification of opportunities through market research, business plan review and client meetings.
Monitor and analyze the impact of business/financial news on clients.
May take a proactive role in driving the pursuit process, including the relationship map and following through on action items to ensure a coordinated effort by the account team.
Demonstrates basic to intermediate understanding and application of principles and practices of pursuits and communications.
Duties are generally varied in scope and basic to moderately complex. Relies on CaPS manager for decisions.
Receives direct supervision and review of work generally occurs at frequent intervals.
As the job involves preparing materials for clients, long hours are required.

To qualify, candidates must have:
  • a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • approximately 3-5 years of relevant work experience; communications experience is desirable
  • ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives at one time
  • must have demonstrated project management experience
  • strong written communications skills and a solid technology background
  • strong working knowledge of a professional services organization
