The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Operations and Infrastructure department of the Engineering and Operations Operating Unit supporting a technically challenging and exciting program in the field of optical communications.
We are seeking an expert in the field of optical communication systems. The successful candidate will have knowledge of fiber-optic communications and components and experience in communications infrastructure (optical transport or metro access) design and/or optical component design. Role will include performing a combination of simulation, theoretical analysis and laboratory experiments to provide subject matter expertise. Experience with VPI or similar optical communication simulation package is highly desirable. Problem-solving skills ranging from fundamental optical physics modeling and hands-on laboratory work to analyzing communication system design tradeoffs. Candidate should have hands-on experience with various types of optical test equipment, including power meters, optical spectrum analyzers, and BER test equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• BS Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent with 20 yrs relevant experience
• 10 years experience in the field of communications
• Position requires a current TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
• MS with 15 years experience or PhD with 10 years experience
