Troy University is accepting applications for the position of Community Director for Alumni and Clements Halls. The Community Director is a live-in staff member that is an integral part of the Housing and Residence Life staff. The director will have both buildings under their leadership. The director will be required to live in one of the halls that he/she manages and maintain a community office in that hall also. The director works with students in developing comfortable living environments and assisting individuals in their personal development. Each of the communities is unique and exciting, affording each director with opportunities for different and challenging experiences. Specific responsibilities of the director position include: supervising Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants; advising the hall council group; stimulating educational, cultural, recreational, and social programming; planning opportunities for student leadership training; participating in continuing education activities and management of administrative tasks necessary for a productive residence hall community environment. A master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling and Psychology or a related field will be required. Candidates should have previous residence hall experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. Candidate must have basic computer skills; be detail oriented and highly organized; have good communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population; have the ability to provide excellent customer service; have good problem solving capabilities; and have strong supervisory skills. The ability and willingness to work non-standard hours, to include evenings and weekends as necessary are required.
