Compensation Analyst

About the Job

Position Purpose


The individual in this position is responsible for the administration of the company’s compensation programs.  This includes developing and implementing new and revised pay programs, policies and procedures that are responsive to the company’s goals and competitive practices.  This person is responsible for providing weekly, month and ad hoc reporting for members of management.  This person serves as a back-up HRIS Administrator, and is responsible for daily maintanence of some functionality of the HR information system, and for daily 401k maintenance.


 


Compensation Administration


·        Conduct job evaluations, including the development and analysis of job descriptions for appropriate grade, level, title and FLSA status. Assist management with the preparation of job descriptions and review requests for new/revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment.


·        Develop and administer company–wide compensation programs for executive, nonexempt, and exempt employees in accordance with company payroll guidelines and state and federal requirements.


·        Responsible for monitoring and maintaining competitive compensation guidelines and procedures. Participate and analyze results for salary surveys, compare current company data to new market data and make recommendations to Compensation & Benefits Manager and other management as needed for refinements.


·        Responsible for benchmarking best practices and trends in incentive compensation; conduct analysis to support incentive plan modeling and design.  Maintain company incentive plans, contests and results and track details in HRIS system.


·        Play a key role in the coordination and administration of the annual merit and bonus cycle, including preparing and distributing performance evaluation kits to managers, calculating increases and bonus, developing and copying merit increase sheets for each employee, and filing final reviews.


·        Advise managers and HR Management on compensation issues; review requests for salary adjustments and make recommendations.


  


 Reporting & Analysis


·         Develop and maintain reports that capture key compensation related metrics and trends.  Work closely with HRIS Administrator to develop HR system reports that accurately reflect employee and department information.


·         Provide analytical support for the Company’s compensation and rewards initiatives, including the design and development of company-wide incentive programs, compensation metrics, and job definition and alignment.


·         Support special compensation projects and cross-functional HR initiatives as needed, including the performance review process, HR metrics reporting, department reorganization, sales incentive payouts, as well as short and long term incentive payouts


·         Oversee compensation projects or phases of larger company-wide initiatives; including the preparation of studies and recommendations on base salaries, salary structures, annual incentives, sales incentives and long term incentives.


·         Manage the Form 5500 processes for health and welfare, severance and EAP benefit programs to insure annual filing deadlines are met and SAR’s are distributed company-wide.


 


 


HRIS and Administrative


·         Maintain and update HR information system (ADP EV5) on a daily basis to reflect all employee status changes, including pay rate changes, promotions, department transfers, title changes, and personal information changes.  Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all aspects of HRIS to serve as back-up to HRIS Administrator.


·         Assist Payroll Administrator with the weekly payroll audit prior and after batch submission.


·         Coordinate day-to-day administration for the 401k program.  Assist employees with enrollment and change to their 401k programs.  Organize education events through 401k advisor.


·         Participate in year-end required 401k IRS testing, census submission, and communication of results.


·         Assist with daily filing in personnel files, work with HRIS Administrator to develop monthly organizational announcements, and serve as back-up to Reception when needed.


·         Maintain Consultant agreements and follow up as needed based on expiration of contracts.


 Skills & Knowledge


·         Current knowledge of government regulations as they apply to corporate compensation


·         Ability to accurately compile and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information, draw conclusions and present recommendations to management


·         Proven analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail


·         Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and internal client service orientation


·         Excellent written, diplomatic verbal skills;


·         Intermediate to advanced knowledge of advanced Excel, payroll systems, HR data management and database reporting; ADP EV5 experience preferred


·         Demonstrated expertise in compensation related research methods and report preparation


Experience


·         Minimum of 5+ years compensation related experience in a fast paced, human resources department


·         Experience designing and administering pay structures and variable pay programs


·         Experience consulting with all levels of levels and positions within the organization


Proven experience conducting job evaluations, compensation & trend analysis, and developing recommendations


Education


·         B.S. Degree
