Job Summary:
The Compliance auditor conducts audits that provide an independent, objective assessment designed to test and confirm compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations, contractual agreements, as well as internal policies and procedures. The auditor assists departments internally by identifying where compliance risks may exist, recognizing areas for improvement, and providing recommendations to improve efficiencies and controls, and limit potential non-compliance and fraud, waste, and abuse. The Compliance Auditor reports to the Compliance Audit Manager.
Responsibilities:
•Perform audit examinations in accordance with approved audit program and the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
•Review operating activities of the Company in relation to state and federal regulations and sub regulatory guidance to determine the adequacy of internal controls and compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
•Actively participate in fraud brainstorming sessions to evaluate fraud risks for each compliance audit conducted.
•Complete audit programs, working papers that document work performed and conclusions reached, and report drafts for review and approval by supervisor.
•Where appropriate, develop constructive recommendations for improvement, and review Management’s action plans. Provide necessary feedback.
•Present findings and recommendations to Management during, and at the conclusion of, each audit.
•Develop and maintain effective communication and rapport with auditees to gain cooperation and to build internal relationships.
•Provide assistance to external auditors, if requested.
•Keep informed of changes in auditing and compliance standards, and related areas.
•Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Business, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
•2+ years of audit and/or compliance experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
•PBM, healthcare, or health insurance industries preferred.
•Experience in public accounting and/or internal audit.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Experience with audit software and analysis.
•Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time. (Current audit coverage includes operations in Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Texas).
•Must be skilled in personal computer spreadsheet and word processing applications.
•Demonstrated critical thinking and analysis.
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
