
The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and operated by Carnegie Mellon University. The DoD established the Software Engineering Institute in 1984 to advance the practice of software engineering because quality software that is produced on schedule and within budget is critical. Position Summary: The person in this position working on-site at the Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) to serve as a liaison between CERT and DC3, working to support the mission of DC3 in their mission of assisting in criminal, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and fraud investigations of the Defense Criminal Investigative Organizations (DCIOs) and DoD counterintelligence activities. The employee will work with SEI and DC3 to identify how SEI capabilities can assist DC3 in the implementation and operation of the DCISE program, work with SEI staff to implement technical solutions and perform technical tasks, and will perform technical analysis in support of the DCISE DoD-DIB Collaborative Information Sharing Environment program. The person in this position will also be conducting incident analysis and triage based on incident reports from DIB partners. This employee in this position will be working full-time on-site at the Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) in Linthicum, Maryland. Education/Training: BS in Computer Science Information Science, Information Systems Management with eight years applicable experience. Experience: Candidate should have strong technical, communication, and problem solving skills. Candidate should have: Skills/Abilities: Successful candidates will: Mobility: Primarily sedentary, long periods of sitting; ability to travel to various locations within the SEI and Carnegie Mellon community, customer sites, conferences, and offsite meetings with some frequency. Environmental Conditions: Normal office conditions; however close contact with computer for prolonged periods of time. Mental: Ability to work under pressure and changing priorities; pay attention to detail; meet inflexible deadlines; deal with difficult individuals while maintaining composure. Other: Candidate must be able to pass a background investigation, obtain a TS/SCI security clearance, be a US citizen, and work full-time at a customer site in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metro area.
