Job Description

The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire a Computer Specialist (Operations) to work within the Division of Citywide Personnel Services’ (DCPS), Computerized Testing Center (CTC). The candidate's duties will be to: install replacement PCs in the CTC, when necessary; notify vendors to repair defective PCs under warranty; ensure the day-to-day operation of computer equipment in the CTC; serve as a technical liaison to the Bureau of Examinations on CTC-related issues; prepare computers for operation prior to each exam; ensure that security tags are up to date on each CTC PC; ensure CTC connectivity; troubleshoot computer malfunctions; and respond to all CTC user requests for service.

 

Qualification Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience, one year of which must have been in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
  2. An associate degree from an accredited college and six years of satisfactory fulltime computer operations experience, one year of which must have been in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
  3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and eight years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience, one year of which must have been in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or
  4. Education and/or equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and the four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1", "2", or "3" above.
