About the Opportunity
BASIC JOB FUNCTION:
Operates Unix and network batch station at maximum efficiency. Resolves abend and other production problem situations and ensures production deadlines are met. Ensures computer subsystems are available to user. Ensures and determine ways to streamline batch processing to improve run time. This job is performed with minimal supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
- Demonstrates consistent and positive professionalism and complies with all departmental and company policies
and procedures
- Demonstrates and promotes team work
- Coordinates shift activities to ensure maximum efficiency
- Releases, monitors and responds to tape and other peripheral messages to ensure accurate completion of all batch jobs
- Solves and assist Programmers with problem solving and with error recovery from batch processing problems
- Monitors and ensures peripheral equipment is functional.
- Solves minor equipment problems
- Monitors and ensures telecommunications networks are up and functional
- Solves and/or assist Network manager with telecommunication problem solving
- Implements and maintains batch job recovery, equipment failure recovery and telecommunication recovery
procedures
- Monitors and obtains supplies for equipment
- Prepares and ensures accurate daily turnover
Qualifications:
Requirements and Qualifications:
-Shift is Noon to 8:00PM
-Good communication skills, both written and verbal
-Required to work overtime
-Required to work/change shifts when asked
-Required to work to cover Sick Time and PTO time for other associates
-Knowledge of: Unix Operating systems, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft NT, data center standards
-Must be capable of learning while experiencing extensive training and must be able to except change
EDUCATION:
-High School diploma/College or Technical degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
-At least 3 years console experience.
