Construction Manager Heavy Civil Concrete & Earthwork
Tetra Tech EC, Inc. is a U.S. based leading consulting, engineering, remediation, restoration, and construction firm. We currently have an opportunity for a Construction Manager Heavy Civil Concrete & Earthwork. The qualified candidate will have held a Construction Manager or Site Manager position on Heavy Civil projects for a minimum of 5 years. The qualified candidate will have held progressively more responsible positions in the construction industry with emphasis on construction of highways, bridges, water control structures, or other heavy civil projects. This position will require the candidate to be involved in providing construction input to proposal efforts including schedule, manpower loading, productivity, equipment and tool requirements. The candidate will be required to take a construction project from inception to closeout and will have demonstrated skills in baseline establishment and change identification and control.

Position description: Works with the line supervision and project management to assure consistency and clarity of delegation of authority, work assignment, and definition of area of responsibility.
Project Operations Responsibilities: 1. Exercises normal supervisory responsibility with respect to subordinates, including those associated with performance appraisal, selection, training and development, delegation of authority, work assignment, and definition of area of responsibility. 2. Supervises the preparation of construction schedules in skeleton, preliminary and approved forms. Approves all construction input to project schedules. Determines the extent of work to be done by own staff or on a contract basis. 3. Plans and approves the construction plant layout and the acquisition of the necessary construction equipment. 4. Maintains familiarity with engineering design concepts being used on projects. Monitors and reviews these concepts for compatibility with current construction techniques and practices, and analyzing any potential impact they may have on quality, schedule and cost. 5. Assumes responsibility, in collaboration with the Labor Relations Manager, for all matters relating to local labor conditions. Establishes the labor relations programs in conjunction with the Labor Relations Manager and the Construction Manager. 6. Renders advice, direction and assistance to field construction staff concerning all construction problems. (Renders advice and assistance on detailed construction problems and labor problems, overtime, etc.). 7. Anticipates construction needs and shortages by maintaining familiarity with construction progress through progress reports, personal contact, inspector’s reports, and other departmental reports. 8. Participates in budget input for construction projects, including monitoring and investigating deviations. 9. Ensures satisfaction of construction schedules and compliance of construction efforts with established budgets, plans, specifications, and Company standards of workmanship, quality and performance and with the terms and conditions of Client Company Contract. 10. Provides input to Project Controls personnel on key drivers affecting production; assists in establishing the form of the status reports used to monitor progress. Reviews and analyzes the cost and cost control, progress, financial and other site-generated data to determine job status and compliance. Ensures that project personnel monitor work progress for occurrences of “changed conditions” and makes appropriate written client notifications. 16. Ensures proper administration of subcontracts. 11.
