Job Purpose:
Plan, Direct and Coordinate a wide variety of construction projects, including the building of all all types of commercial, industrial structures and Federal Construction Projects. Managers will coordinate and supervise the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, making sure that the project gets completed on time and within budget. Managers will be expected to work with owners, engineers, architects and others who are involved in the construction process.
Education and Training: Candidates who have a Bachelors Degree in Construction Mgmt or Engineering with work experience is preferred; however Practical experience is impt whether gained through an internship coopertive education program; a job in the construction trades; or another job in the industry will be taken into strong consideration in lieu of Degree.
Candidates fresh out of college (Const Mgmt) with a desire to learn are also encouraged to apply as a coordinator and work their way up the ladder to fill these positions for Maven Construction in the future...
Other Qualifications: Should be flexible and work effectively in a fast paced environment. Candidate should be decisive and work well under pressure, particurally when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays. The ability to coordinate several major activities at once, while analyzing and resolving specific problems, is essential, as is an understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings. Familiarity with computers for job costing, online collaboration, scheduling and estimating also is important. Good oral and written communications skills is a must.
Willingness to travel within the CONUS a definite plus.
Duties:
* Meets project operational and financial standards by contributing project control information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying project control system improvements; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
* Develops project plans by advising clients regarding project objectives and requirements; directing development of, and verifying, project drawings, specifications, details, and budgets.
* Develops cost estimates by analyzing construction documents; applying historical and standard costs and estimating data; updating pricing schedules.
* Controls project expense by categorizing and analyzing expenditures; comparing expenses to project budget; reviewing purchases; evaluating cost trends; recommending adjustments and corrections.
* Manages self performance trades as well as sub-contractors by developing and evaluating bids; locating and qualifying sub-contractors; obtaining and maintaining sub-contractor documentation; inspecting adherence to drawings, specifications, and schedules.
* Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.
* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
* Accomplishes mission by completing related results as needed.
