About the Job

Would you like to work with dedicated professionals like yourself? We are DEC International, Inc. Located in Marietta, GA, DEC is staffing up to partner with a new national service under a still undisclosed brand name service set to launch by year end. Our business is to provide the latest “live” news and details on upcoming private development projects affecting the commercial construction industry.  We currently have positions available for detail-oriented project reporters/researchers to build on information collected by our first level research team. The position requires daily contact with what we call the “commercial development source community” (commercial real estate owners, developers, architects, engineers, general contractors and others). Researchers will track projects through their lifecycle, collecting information on up-and-coming private commercial construction projects that are in the pre-plan / planning / design stage as well as projects ready to bid through ground breaking. The position entails very heavy outbound phone work and requires an ability to build rapport with information sources, a tenacity to obtain accurate and timely data and a commitment to follow-up to project completion.

Project Researchers will receive extensive on-the-job training from experienced on-site trainers. DEC will invest heavily to enhance your ability to perform high-level data collection.

The Ideal candidates will posses the following:

  • Prior outbound telephone work experience

  • Bachelor's degree (Journalism or related preferred)

  • Prior experience in data collection, information procurement, research, (investigative/market research functions in the real estate development, mortgage or construction industry would be ideal for this role)

  • The ability to build relationships with professionals in the real estate development / construction / architectural / engineering fields

  •  The ability to speak clearly and professionally on the telephone and know when and how to ask detailed questions. Considering that researchers deal with building owners, developers and architects over the telephone, you must have an engaging phone manner and be talented in building relationships and connecting with people.

  • A natural curiosity

  • Excellent listening skills

  • An ability to write editorial copy

  • The ability to prioritize your workload

  • Familiarity with the construction industry is definitely a benefit, but not a requirement

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications; Outlook, Word, Access and Excel

  • Persistence, responsiveness and enjoy working in a team environment and toward a common goal

DEC International is an equal opportunity employer offering competitive compensation, complete employee benefit programs (health insurance, 401K & retirement packages)

These are immediate positions in our convenient East Cobb county offices.
