Construction Project Superintendent

Ceres is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Road Construction Project Superintendent for our operations in North Dakota.  Projects entail reconstruction and resurfacing of county roads in the western part of North Dakota and other North Dakota Department of Transportation road projects.  The desired candidate for this position will drive sub-contractor performance and have both a broad resume of road construction/paving operations and specific technical experience related to all aspects of road building per DOT Spec’s.  This position is located in North Dakota.

 

Duties:

·         Monitor and control projects through administrative direction of Project Manager to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications; confer with superintendents to discuss such matters as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Act as liaison with job estimators, owner’s representatives, contracting officers, and municipality officials; provide calculations on hours required tons of materials needed, along with equipment and staffing resources required.
  • Investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs, and scheduling.
  • Provide administrative safety management and disciplinary activities.
  • Manage/handle inspector, point of contact, subcontractor, etc. relations throughout construction period.
  • Responsible for timely, accurate, and thorough review of project related documentations and updates.
  • Negotiate and manage outside subcontractor/vendor/ supplier contracts.
  • Supervise applicable staff as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

Skills/Requirements:

·         Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills.

·         On site production and cost oriented experience essential.  

·         Extensive knowledge of the road construction or paving projects. 

·         Aggregate and grading experience or knowledge.

·         Minimum of 15 years in the paving and road construction industry.

·         Superb management experience preferably with road building teams.

·         Excellent project management, writing, and oral communication skills.

·         Must present a list of past projects along with their dollar value and scope.

·         Should have working knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job.
