Consultant, Competitive Assessment

We are actively recruiting a Consultant, Competitive Assessment to be based at our offices in Vienna, Virginia. This position will report directly to the Director of Competitive Assessment and they will deliver time-sensitive information and analysis on which our clients base major tactical and strategic decisions. The consultant is also expected to significantly contribute to preparation of client deliverables.

Responsibilities:
• Collect and analyze data from a variety of primary and secondary sources including databases, government budget and procurement materials, trade publications, WWW, and other open sources in order to assess company positioning for a bid or an opportunity
• Perform government customer and procurement analysis to determine:
• Customer acquisition trends and patterns
• Customer hot buttons and expectations
• Procurement requirements and focus
• Conduct SWOT analysis of competition and assess client position relative to competitors.
• Perform competitors gap analysis and implications for bidding strategy and teaming arrangements
• Identify & evaluate likely competitor discriminators such as technology, management processes, certifications, etc.
• Conduct research and analysis of the government marketplace to understand important trends
• Perform quantitative analysis to assess opportunity or market size
• Summarize findings and formulate a compelling and substantiated “story” on competitive behavior
• Integrate the analysis and present the “story” in a structured and easily understood deliverable documents
• Perform research and analysis and other relevant activities to support business development and knowledge base build-up

Minimum Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
• 3 to 5 years of prior experience in research and analysis in any of the following areas:
• Competitive intelligence
• Market intelligence
• Federal or State and Local government market
• Information technology market
• Defense and aerospace market
• Public administration
• Policy
• Client-focused with strong analytical and communications skills are a must
• Ability to handle multiple projects without losing focus
• Ability to work within project budget and meet deadlines
• Ability to work on significant portions of a project with limited supervision
• Strong skills using PowerPoint and Excel
• Advanced degrees in a relevant field or other professional relevant experience may be traded for years of experience.
