Job Summary:
Companies around the globe rely on EMC Symmetrix and supporting Host Software capabilities to ensure that no data is ever put at risk no matter what the scale of deployment, and no matter what the disaster. On this team you will leverage your skills and background in complex, performant, scalable, resilient applications to make significant contributions to EMC’s continued leadership in data protection solutions.
Openings in this host software area focus on data migration capabilities, STAR technologies, and replication infrastructure. The successful candidate in this space must have a desire to leverage low level software engineering techniques to build robust middleware using C, and must have strong technical leadership ability in supporting large scale complex software. A qualified candidate must have a BS or a MS degree in Computer Science, 7+ years of relevant industry experience, and an excellent understanding of product software development life cycle, including development, qualification, and release activities.
Duties will include:
• Extending the capabilities of a mature software suite for the Array Management feature set.
• Analyzing and driving customer defect resolution
• Analyzing software requirements to elaborate them into design and code
• Interacting with cross functional teams, including customers discussions
• Developing a strong understand EMC Array technologies
• Responsibility for meeting demanding schedules and delivery of high quality results
Required Skills:
• Excellent analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to understand and develop a large and complex software system
• Ability to work effectively in fast paced multifunctional-team settings
• Ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong Coding Skills in C
• Excellent Debugging and troubleshooting skills including the ability to read existing code to understand its intent and diagnose/resolve complex problems.
• Good knowledge of algorithms
• Good understanding of UNIX and Windows Operating Systems
• Ability to program in a UNIX environment.
• Ability to program in a Windows environment is a plus
• Experience with Multi-threaded software development a plus
• Knowledge of XML and related technologies a plus
