Content Management Systems Lead Engineer - New York

Description:
Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions is looking for an experienced Content Management Systems Lead Engineer to design and drive how we implement Content Management and Digital Asset Management technologies across the service.
We're looking for someone willing to take ownership of key areas, turn ambiguous goals into clear directions, coordinate with vendors, mentor others, and have demonstrated success in their previous positions.

Responsibilities will include:


  • Dive deeply into the assets that we collect today and new services/data sources while they're in the design phase. Analyze them, develop and document the appropriate CMS/DAM structure, environments, and quality assurance strategies and work with key stakeholders, other technical leaders and architects, product teams, and partner teams to drive adoption.
  • Providing hands-on technical leadership for the team that will be designing and developing the CMS/DAM. Work with business stakeholders and systems architects to recommend specific implementation strategies to satisfy business requirements.
  • Work hands-on with internal and external teams (authoring tools, learning management systems) to integrate the CMS/DAM into their systems.
  • Develop a process for content import, export and publishing.
  • Work with vendors, and external and internal developers, in order to implement CMS/DAM technologies that satisfy business requirements.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of content taxonomy and structure, and team workflows by implementing and enhancing CMS capabilities.
  • Support the ongoing production of CMS/DAM-based content.
  • Work hands-on with KTPA technical teams to integrate the CMS/DAM into their systems.
  • Work hands-on with software vendors, developers and operations team to optimize systems scalability and performance.


Qualifications:
Required:


  • 5+ years industry experience designing and implementing CMS/DAM-based systems.
  • Experience with Web Server and Content Management Systems.
  • Experience in managing and organizing digital assets and delivering them to Content Delivery Networks.
  • Experience integrating multiple authoring systems and content delivery services (both software systems and CDNs).
  • Experience in implementing workflows, roles, and permissions within a CMS.
  • Demonstrated experience using current Web communication methodologies (Web services, REST, Javascript/AJAX), WebDAV, CIFS, FTP, NFS, Sharepoint protocol, etc.)
  • Excellent conceptualization, analytical, and logic skills enabling comprehension and development of complex technical and business issues, topics, and plans
  • Ability to manage short-, medium-, and long-term planning horizons concurrently
  • Ability to understand and relate product technology, strategy and direction with business needs
  • Leader and role model comfortable working as an individual contributor and as a member of a team, across diverse organizations
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to work with business users as well as other members of the technical staff.
  • Ability to partner with senior developers and to mentor junior developers
  • Experience with large-scale production CMS systems (i.e. scalability, high-availability), with the ability to optimize architecture and implementation across all layers of architecture.
