Jones & Bartlett, one of the fastest growing, 6^th largest, college, professional and reference publishers of educational print and electronic media is seeking an experienced Web Designer.  Work on electronic media re-branding across the breadth of company’s and newly acquired companies’ websites. This is an on-site, 4 to 5 days per week, flexible hours within 8:30 to 5:00, contract position, up to 3 months in length.

Working on marketing website requirements, in conjunction with the Chief Marketing Officer and the Design Manager, others in those departments, and IT, focus on development, transition, and design to implement re-branding of web sites and electronic marketing collateral. Work cross-organizationally with Marketing, Editorial, Production, and Media Services to create designs appropriate for the specified business goals.

Qualifications:

• MUST have experience designing web pages, with a portfolio to demonstrate web design projects and associated skills


• Advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and of digital imaging and illustration with Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Illustrator with formal training an asset.


• Working knowledge of JavaScript, and dynamic HTML; experience with Macromedia Flash


• Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and


• Knowledge of W3C validation, 508 compliance and usability best practices.


• Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving.


• Ability to work in a team, take direction and communicate in a clear way.


• Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design.

This is a contract position, expected to start ASAP and to be on-site 4 to 5 days per week, with duration potentially up to 3 months.  Note:  Employment location is Maynard, MA, not accessible by public transportation.
