Control Engineer, IT

TAE, based in South Orange County, California, is a small and unique company working in the area of energy research in association with local academia, national labs and an international consortium of institutions. We have an opening for a Control Engineer, IT who is responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing Information Technology (IT) systems, servers and networks in support of large distributed control systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for deployment of servers, networks and security systems

·         Operating system installation and configuration

·         Industrial software installation and configuration

·         Integrated commissioning of the IT systems

·         Documentation, operation, and enhancement of IT systems

·         Monitoring and security implementation

·         Liaison with other Engineers and Scientists to form requirements for IT systems, servers and networks

·         Liaison with outside consultants and suppliers of IT related equipment and services

·         Detailed design and specification of hardware, network and security components

·         Detailed design of server structures, data storage systems and access

Requirements:

B.S., Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

At least 5 years experience with large IT related systems, gained in an industrial or scientific environment

Deployment of IT servers, storage systems and networks

Ability to work independently as well as member of a team

Interest in large science or R&D projects

Technical Experience (Equipment, tools, etc.):

Server and network hardware

Storage arrays

Software Knowledge and Skills:

Deployment of Windows Operating Systems

VMware vSphere v4 or later

Network planning, monitoring and security

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Deployment of Linux Operating Systems

Allen Bradley certification

LabVIEW certification

Experienced in the deployment of control system software to servers and clients

Monitoring of network components and services

Rockwell Automation software products

National Instruments LabVIEW software

Backup systems

Common industrial communications protocols
