Japs-Olson’s maintenance department plays a key role in production daily operations, equipment development and optimization to enable long term growth of the company.
Japs-Olson is looking for a motivated Controls Systems Engineer. The position consists of trouble shooting down equipment to identify root cause failure, technical work directing electricians and technicians, and design and upgrade of control systems to increase productivity. Responsibilities:
- You must be able to lead new procurement and upgrade projects from conception through start-up; includes specifications, BOM’s, electrical diagram design, PID control, AC/DC Servo drives, PLC/HMI programming, and pneumatics.
- Design and troubleshoot AC/DC servo drives/motors/circuits, PLC/HMI, PID control and general production electronic and electro/mechanical devices
- Provide technical direction to electricians and technicians
Qualifications:
- Minimum of BSEE with 7+ year’s experience
- Have good communication skills to work with the production leaders, and other maintenance technicians to improve and maximize plant output, efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Experience in project management, estimating, specifications, BOM’s, electrical diagram design, PID control, AC / DC / Servo drives, PLC / HMI programming, and pneumatics.
- Minimum 3 years experience directing electricians and electrical technicians
- Able to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
- Excellent logical/reasoning skills
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Minimum 3 years web processing and handling experience (printing, un-winders, winders, coating, laminating, ovens, steering, tension control, web guiding, etc.).
- Experience with Siemens S7 PLC’s, Siemens Masterdrive’s, Allen-Bradley PLC’s, and Allen-Bradley drives.
- Familiar with OSHA, NEC, and NFPA79.
- Good mechanical aptitude
